Powder Ombre

To book a Powder Ombré appointment, please email a photo of your brows (without makeup) to inkedbyvs@gmail.com.

Powder Ombre appointments are done at Meraki Beauty Bar in Burnaby.

Ombré is a French term meaning “having tones of color that shade into each other, graduating from light to dark”. This procedure uses a machine gun with a single needle and deposits ink under the “epidermis” layer of the skin to create a powder finish. Powder Ombré is ideal for clients who wear makeup on a daily basis and prefer lighter heads (front of the brows) and darker tails (end of the brow).   All skin types work well with this method.

Consultation occur on the same day as procedure. The consultation and brow mapping takes around 1.5-2 hours followed by around 1 hours for actual tattooing. The whole appointment will take around 3 hours.

Touch ups

The free touch up appointment will be booked at the 6 to 8 week mark from the initial appointment. If you book before then, please be advised there may be a higher chance that your brows are still healing and will still be very sensitive. As a result, it may be more painful.

Should you schedule a touch up appointment, not show up, or is late more than 15 minutes, you will be charged the full appointment amount.  Additional touch ups after the complimentary one will be at a portion of the first cost.

After the initial complimentary touch up there are many factors as to why your permanent makeup may not last. This includes not following aftercare instructions, excessive sun exposure without wearing sunscreen, skin types that tend to be dry or flaky (eczema), using chemical peels and exfoliants frequently on the area etc.

Healing Process & Aftercare

The healing process is very similar to a body tattoo.  The eyebrow area will begin to oxidize and gradually become darker.  The darkest will be the following day.  If there is any redness, it will subside in about 3 days

● Eyebrows will begin to scab/flake with the healing time consisting of 7-10 days.  Healing time differentiates from person to person; some may heal in 4 days, while some in 2 weeks.  Try not to compare your healing process to others!

● DO NOT pick or peel when eyebrows begins to scab.  If the area has been picked or peeled, it will be significantly lighter than the rest of the eyebrow once all scabs are off.  Allow the scabs to fall off naturally, you are able to proceed with your regular routine once healing is complete.

● Always sleep on your back; generally, side and stomach sleepers tend to have the worst retention as the scabs are rubbed off in the sleep from the surrounding areas.  We recommend an airplane pillow to stabilize the neck and pillows behind your knees to straighten out your back for more comfortable sleep.

● NO working out as it produces sweat and may cause pre-mature lifting of the scabs.  This includes swimming, hot yoga, sauna.  If any of this is done, it will cause your scabs to peel prematurely, lose pigment, and in some cases, even cause infection.

● NO products on the eyebrow area.  This includes shampoo, cleansers, makeup etc.  Only water and ointment is allowed.  Products on top of any open wound will cause infection.

● No sun exposure.  Sun is the worst enemy of any tattoo.  Always use SPF after the eyebrow is completely peeled.

● FOR FIRST 3 DAYS wash eyebrow area by splashing water and gently rubbing to loosen any dried blood, collagen, and lymphatic fluid.  Rinse again, and pat dry with paper towel.  If you are living out of town and feel that tap water is not safe, please use bottled water.  After 3 days, you are more than welcome to continue splashing eyebrow area with water, however do not rub as it can irritate the scabs.  Washing allows oxygen back into the wound and allow faster healing time.

● FOR NEXT 7 DAYS apply balm that is provided at the time of the appointment once per day in the morning.   With oily-skin clients, apply balm for 5 DAYS.  This acts as a protective barrier.  ONLY ADD A PAPER-THIN LAYER and gently apply onto area in a TAPPING MOTION.

● Never expect your eyebrows to be perfect the very first time.  There can be times where scabs come off prematurely and poor retention is caused.  This is why there is always a free touch up appointment to fix any areas.
